JOHN "JACK" ALTMAN Obituary

84, of Effingham, Illinois, formerly of Everett, Pennsylvania,  passed away at 1:13 A.M., Saturday, October 26, 2019, in the HSHS St. Johns Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.  He was born August 7, 1935, the son of Ira and Nellie (Williams) Altman in Indiana, Pennsylvania.  John served in the United States Army.  He married Joan Eisenhower September 6, 1960 in Cumberland, Maryland.  Mrs Altman passed away July 1, 1999.  John achieved his Bachelor degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1961 and his Masters degree from Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland in 1968. He was a retired middle school teacher in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Everett, Pennsylvania and also a member of the Lions Club, the Everrett Local Food Bank and the Senior Center all of Everett, Pennsylvania. Mr. Altman loved traveling and was very interested in architecture.  John is survived by his children, Mark Altman (Kathy) of Hanover, Pennsylvania, Walt Altman (Julie) of Neoga, Illinois and Faith Smith (Mat) of Berthoud, Colorado; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, M. Irene Altman of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Joan Altman.
Memorials are suggested to the Everett Senior Citizen Center 101 W. Main St., Everett, PA  15537.

A Memorial Service to honor Mr. Altman will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 10:00 AM,  at the Senior Center in Everett, PA.
