Betty Lawanda Ogborn 91, of Neoga, Illinois formerly of Hutton Twp., Illinois passed away at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 4, 2023 in the Heartland Senior Living Center in Neoga, Illinois. She was born November 1, 1931 in rural Westfield, Illinois the daughter of Perry Edwin and Dovie C. (Hedgef) Green. She married John Ogborn April 4, 1951 in Charleston, Illinois. Mr. Ogborn passed away February 13, 2022. Betty was a Homemaker and a private Housekeeper. She was a member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Charleston, Illinois, the Goldwing Motorcycle Association of Indianapolis, Indiana and the V.F.W. Auxiliary of Charleston, Illinois. Betty was known for her warmth of heart and was called Grandma Betty by many children from grandchildren's friends, her daughter's daycare children, neighbors, the church, and any child that needed a hug or sweet homemade treat. Betty lived by the bible and prayed for all. "Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Phillippians 4:4 "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!"
Mrs. Ogborn is survived by her children, Cathy Ogborn Smith (Frank E.) Of Neoga, Illinois, Carey P. Ogborn (Brenda) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Perry D. Ogborn (Terri) of Charleston, Illinois and Daniel M. Ogborn (Sharon) of Sun City, Arizona; grandchildren, Tiffany Monroe, Tricia Ballinger, Natalie Lin, Grant Ogborn, Drew Ogborn, Curt Goldstein, Kylene Hopkins and J. P. Ogborn; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special nieces, Joan Fitzpatrick of Salisbury, Illinois and Nancy Colyer of Toledo, Ohio; special nephew, Charles Green of Pensacola, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Ogborn; son, Chris Ogborn; brothers, Charles Green and Delance "Bud" Green; sisters, Imogene Lee and Pauline Bennett.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday October 13, 2023 in the St. Mary Of The Assumption Church in Neoga, Illinois. Visitation will be held Friday October 13, 2023 from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM in the Swengel - O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, Illinois. A Graveside service will be held Friday October 13, 2023 at 2:30 PM in the Bailiff Cemetery near West Union, Illinois.
