CHRISTINE “CHRIS” HELLMAN

80,  of Mattoon, Illinois, formerly of Trowbridge, Illinois passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon, Illinois. She was born January 31, 1941 in Coles County, Illinois the daughter of Edgar and Virgy (Rogers) Howes.  Chris married Gerald Hellman February 21, 1960 in Mattoon, Illinois. Mrs. Hellman worked as a Greeter at Walmart in Mattoon, Illinois for over twenty years.  She leaves her husband of fifty one years, Gerald Hellman of Mattoon, Illinois; sons, Terry Hellman, Darrell Hellman of Mattoon, Illinois, Kevin Hellman (Lisa) of Trowbridge, Illinois, Ronald Hellman (Michelle) of Charleston, Illinois and Darren Hellman (Vickie) of Carterville, Illinois; fifteen grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren and brother, Bill Howes of Ft. Collins, Colorado.  Chris was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ina Bost, Frieda Arthur and Ruth Himes. 
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 3, 2021 in the Swengel - O’Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, Illinois. Visitation will be Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Gaskill Cemetery in Ash Grove Township, Shelby County, Illinois.
