Charlene Baker Obituary

56 of Mattoon, Illinois, passed away at 10:17 P. M., Friday, December 9, 2011, in the Sara Bush Lincoln Health Center of Coles County, Illinois. Charlene was born in Mattoon, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy ( Goodwin ) Van Scyoc. She married Jerry Baker on July 27, 1991, in Rose Hill, Illinois. Charlene was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Neoga, Illinois. She enjoyed being with her family, friends and gardening, traveling. she also enjoyed playing games on the computer, and watching the Disney Channel and the Monday and Friday nights fights with her nephew, Timmy. She leaves her husband, Jerry Baker of Mattoon, Ill; one brother, Wayne Van Scyoc of Effingham, Ill; three sisters, Brenda Evrley and husband Kenneth of Pana, Ill., Nancy Nadolny and husband Ted of Mattoon, Ill., and Tanya Arnold and husband Dennis of rural Toledo, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Anita Van Scyoc of rural Neoga, Ill.; a close friend, Kathy Stoup of Paducah, KY. Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gerald Van Scyoc. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Jerry Baker - 2716 Moultrie Ave. - Mattoon, Illinois, 61938. Services will be held at 12:00 ( Noon ) Wednesday, December 14, 2011, in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church east of Neoga, with the Rev. Ed Stephens of Mattoon, officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the services at the church. Burial will be in the Drummond Cemetery. The Swengel - O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, is in charge of arrangements.
