EUGENE LEE "GENE" CAMPBELL

Eugene Lee "Gene" Campbell , 84 of rural Neoga, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023 in his residence.  He was born March 29, 1938 in Effingham County, Illinois the son of Charles Lemuel and Emma G. (Habing) Campbell.  Gene married Joan Wolf September 18, 1960 in Wheeler, Illinois.  He was a semi retired Grain Farmer and was a member and former Elder of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sigel, Illinois. He enjoyed deer hunting in southern Illinois, fishing, was a former member of the Effingham Bowlers Association and spending time with friends and family.  Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife, Joan Campbell of Neoga, Illinois; children, Julie Sloan of Toledo, Illinois, Janice Althoff (Terry) of Neoga, Illinois, Carla Porter (Randy) of Stewardson, Illinois and Charles Campbell (Tami) of Neoga, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, Allen Campbell (Carol Jean) of Dieterich, Illinois; sisters, Joan Lister of Altamont, Illinois and Rita Bushue of Effingham, Illinois.  He was preceded in death by, parents; son in law, Leo Sloan Jr.; brother, Charles Campbell; sister in law, Leta Campbell and brother in laws Byrle Lister and Leroy Bushue. 
Memorials are suggested to Effingham County Relay For Life or the Neoga Ambulance Service.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, Sunday, February 19, 2023 in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sigel, Illinois.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM Saturday, February 18, 2023 in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sigel, Illinois. Burial will be in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Sigel, Illinois.
