EUGENE RUSSELL STARWALT

Eugene Russell Starwalt  94, Rural Mattoon, Illinois passed away Tuesday September 10, 2024 in his residence surrounded by family.  He was born February 3, 1930 in Trilla, Illinois the son of Clarence E. and Hazel Frances (Beals) Starwalt.  Eugene married Thelma Louisa Beals July 8, 1948 in Cumberland County, Mrs. Starwalt passed away August 5, 2020.  Mr. Starwalt  proudly served in the United States Army in 1952 and 1953.  He was a retired factory worker at Kuehne and R.R. Donnelly in Mattoon, Illinois.  Eugene was a member of the Good Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Trilla, Illinois and he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his friends and family.  He is survived by his children, Karl Starwalt (Vickie) of Lerna, Illinois and Gale Cook (Rod) of Hendersonville, Tennessee; eleven grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren and daughter in law, Joy Starwalt.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Thelma Louisa Starwalt; son, Steve Starwalt, brother, Harold Starwalt; sister, Eileen Croy; grandson, Jeremy William Starwalt; great grandchildren, Brandon William, Paisley Marie and Keely Gale.
Memorials are suggested to the Good Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Trilla, Illinois.
 Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 14, 2024  in the Good Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Trilla, Illinois.  Visitation will be Friday, September 13, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Swengel - O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, Illinois.  Burial will be in the Beals Cemetery near Trilla, Illinois with Military Honors by the Neoga American Legion.
