Edward Lee Thomas

Edward Lee Thomas, 75, of Sullivan, Illinois passed away at 8:53 AM, Saturday February 28, 2026 at home. Ed was born August 5, 1950 in Clay, Kentucky son of Floyd and Billie Jean (Baker) Thomas. He married Carol on March 10, 1989 in Neoga, Illinois. 

Edward proudly served his country in the US Navy on the USS John F. Kennedy (CVA 67). Ed enjoyed wood working, fishing, gardening, and traveling.   

Ed was easy going and would go along with most anything his family had planned. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. 

He is survived by his wife Carol, of Sullivan, Illinois; daughter, Heather (Russ) Hakman of Neoga, Illinois; step-children, Jeff Drum, Carmen (Fiancé Craig Anderson) Stokes, and Greg (Sharon) Stokes; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Billy (Kathy) Thomas; sister, Debbie (Jim) Sparling; 2 nieces and 1 nephew.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael Christopher Thomas, sister Terrie Thomas.

Swengel - O’Dell funeral Home of Neoga, Illinois is assisting with arrangements, a memorial service will be held Friday April 24, 2026 at the Lake Shelbyville Visitor Center 1989 IL-16 Shelbyville, Illinois from 1:30 - 3:30 PM.
