88, of Mattoon, Illinois, passed away at 2:18 P. M., Saturday, September 24, 2011, in the Odd Fellow - Rebekah Home in Mattoon, Illinois. Virginia was born January 22, 1923, in Mattoon, Illinois, the daughter of William Thomas and Sally Elizabeth ( Lily ) Heath. Virginia was a member of the First Christian Church of Neoga, she owned and operated Cookies and More in Mattoon, for several years. She was a district officer of the Zonta Club of Mattoon and she also held many offices in that Club. Virginia was also a member of the ladies of the Elks Club of Mattoon, a 4- H Club leader of Coles County for ten years, a member of H.E.A. Club of Coles County, she was also one of the organizer of the Coles County Quilt Club. Virginia married Dr. Rex M. Adams, May 1, 1952 in Urbana, Illinois, and Dr. Adams passed away October 1, 2000. Mrs. Adams leaves one son, Rex M. Adams of Mattoon, IL; two daughters, Pamela M. King and husband Mark of Mattoon, IL and Melanie L. Adams and companion David Hippieburch of Waukegan, IL; two brothers, Jim Heath and wife Lela of Kansas, IL and Bob Heath of Texas; one grandson, Cameron King; two granddaughters, Jennifer Bettinger and Ashley Addis and one step grandson, Ryan Logan; five great grandchildren, Madalyn, Hannah and Samuel Bettinger, Dalton and Deacon Addis. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Rex Adams; one brother, one sister and one adopted brother, one grandson and one granddaughter. Memorials may be made to the Lincoln Land Hospice of Mattoon, or to the American Cancer Society. , Private Family Graveside Services for Dr. Rex and Mrs. G. Virginia Adams will be held at 10:00 A. M., Tuesday, September 27, 2011, in the Dodge Grove Cemetery of Mattoon, IL with the Rev. Darin Hansen of Neoga, officiating. There will be no visitation.
