GEORGE BARNETT Obituary

89, of Neoga, Illinois passed away at 2:04 AM Wednesday, April 8, 2020 in the Mattoon Rehabilitation & Health Care in Mattoon, Illinois. George was born March 12, 1931 in Lovington, Illinois, the son of George Rex and Mildred Ione (Martin) Barnett.  Mr. Barnett was a retired Howell Asphalt Company of Mattoon, Illinois  He married Patricia M. Foster March 27, 1964 in Mattoon, Illinois, Mrs. Barnett passed away February 25, 2019.  George served in Korea with the 2nd Division Medical Company and was a Member of the First Christian Church of Neoga, Illinois, Masonic Lodge #260 A.F. & A.M.  of Mattoon, Illinois, Scottish Rites of Danville, Illinois, Ansar Shrine Temple of Springfield, Illinois, Former President of the Cornbelt Shrine Club of Mattoon, Illinois,  American Legion Post # 429 of Lovington, Illinois, Life Member of V.F.W. of Mattoon, Illinois, and the Moose Lodge 803 of Mattoon, Illinois.
He is survived by his son, George Rex Barnett III, (Dee);of Flower Mound, Texas; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; special friends, David Perry, Gary Hartke, Tommy and Brenda Himes all of Neoga, Illinois.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Patricia Barnett; son, Scott I Barnett; sisters, Margaret Brock and Betty Jane Miller.
Due to the Coronavirus 19 Mandates there will be no visitation or services at this time. 
As per George's wishes cremation rites will be accorded and a celebration of his life will be at a later date.
