George White Obituary

75 of Neoga, Illinois, passed away at 4:35 A.M., Tuesday, August 2, 2011, in the St. Anthony Memorial Hospital of Effingham, Illinois. George was born September 20, 1935, in Trilla, Illinois, the son of Bert and Mary ( Reed ) White. George married Roberta S. Woolery, December 17, 1961, in Neoga, Ill. They would have had their fifty Wedding Anniversary this December. He was a retired Carpenter and a member of the Local Union # 347 of Mattoon, he operated Gee's Restaurant and Lounge of Neoga, he was a fifty year member of the Neoga Masonic Lodge, Ansar Shrine, a life member of the National Rifle Assoc, and a life member of the Charleston Gun Club. George leaves his wife Roberta White of Neoga, IL; two sons, Mitch White and wife Becky of Jacksonville, IL and Andy White and wife Lis of Sullivan, IL; one daughter, Gretchen Vaughn and husband Troy of Mattoon, IL; seven grandchildren, Austin, Michelle, Nick, Adam, Kolby, Treyton and Emily; one good cat, Maggie. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Nona Wilson, Gloria Sweet, Brona Mendenhall and Rosemary Rominger. Memorials may be made to the Heartland Christian Village Auxiliary, or to the Cumberland County Animal Shelter. Funeral services were held at 4:00 P.M., Saturday, August 6, 2011, in the Swengel- O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, with the Rev. Richard Coen, officiating assisted by George's grandson, Austin Raboin and the Eulogy and family Memories were given by the family. The recordings of " Amazing In Grace " and " Go Rest High on That Mountain ". The pallbearers were Chuck Rominger, Randy Mendenhall, Nick Voltenberg, Austin Rabion, Mike Minten, Steve Phillips, Mitch, Andy White, Troy Vaughn and Scott White. Burial was in the Neoga Memorial Cemetery in Neoga, Illinois.
