JAMES EDWARD " JIM " MEEK

83, of Trowbridge, Illinois, passed away at 3:22 P.M., Tuesday, June 19, 2012, in the Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Effingham, Illinois. Jim was born August 20, 1928, in Bement, Ill., the son of J. Ernest and E. Frances ( Monaghan ) Meek. He married Shirley Doll, June 21, 1958, in Trowbridge, Ill. Jim was retired from Young Radiator of Mattoon, Ill. and also was a farmer He was a member of the St. Mary Of The Assumption Church of Neoga, Ill. Jim was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America, a former Board Member of Big Spring Township, former Republican Precinct Committee man of Big Spring Township and a Honorary Life Member of the St. Mary's Knights of Columbus of Neoga, Ill. Jim leaves his wife, Shirley Meek of Trowbridge, Ill.; one daughter, Kathleen Walk and husband Randy of Trowbridge, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Rita Cyr of Trowbridge, Ill.; one brother, John Meek and wife Loretta of Trowbridge, Ill.; two grandchildren, Jennifer Schlichting and husband Adam of Livonia, Mich., and Krista Galvin and husband Jerry of Chicago, Ill.; two great grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Teddy Meek and one sister, Frances Mary Meek. Memorials may be made to the Clay County Hospice, or to the Alzheimer Association. Mass Of A Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A. M., Friday, June 22, 2012, at the St. Mary Of The Assumption Church of Neoga, with Fr. Robert DeGrand and Sr. Pat Thies officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, June 21, 2012. at the Swengel - O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, with a 5:30 P.M., Knights of Columbus Rosary, Thursday, June 21, 2012, P.M., at the Funeral Home.
