67, of Neoga, IL passed away at 3:40 A.M., Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Coles County, IL. James was born August 8, 1944 in Shelby County, IL, the son of Dudley and Pearl (Perkins) Russell. James married Donna Fryman, December 23, 1972 in Neoga, IL, she passed away February 13, 2010. He retired from General Electric of Mattoon, IL, where he was a Maintenance Worker. James was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. James attended The Church of Mattoon, IL, he was a member of the V.F.W. of Greenup, IL, an former member of the Neoga Volunteer Fire Department in Neoga, IL and a past assistant Boy Scout Troop 89 Leader in Neoga, IL. James is survived by his two sons, J.D. Russell and wife Janice of St. Elmo, IL, and Justin Russell and his special friend Annette Moeglin of Teutopolis, IL; one daughter, Riann Smith and husband Brian of Lerna, IL; companion Gwen Hall of Neoga, IL; eight grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and one sister Nancy Lindsay Brown of Mesa, AZ. James was preceded in death by: Parents, wife, Donna Russell and two brothers, John Russell and Ed Russell. A Funeral Service for James and his late wife Donna will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 20, 2012 in the Swengel - O'Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, IL with Russ Sanderson of Effingham, IL officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until service time Friday, January 20, 2012 in the Swengel - O'Dell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Drummond Cemetery east of Neoga, IL Memorials may be made to the family in care of J.D. Russell, 223 W. 3rd St. St. Elmo, IL 62458.
