JOHN ELSON Obituary

70, of Effingham, Illinois passed away at 2:59 AM Wednesday, February 5, 2020 in the HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois. John was born March 27, 1949 in Macon County, Illinois, the son of Dwight William and Evelyn P. (Scott) Elson. Mr. Elson was a retired Associate at the Walmart in Mattoon, Illinois. He married Merita Zacha November 27, 1970 in Shumway, Illinois and she survives. John served in the US Army and was a Member of the Neoga American Legion and the Moose Lodge.
He is also survived by his children, Lisa Hogan/Yarbrough (Michael) of Granite City, Illinois, Robert Elson (Jennifer) of Dixon, Missouri, Timothy Elson (Christie) of Neoga, Illinois and Evelyn "Susie" Tolch (Brian) of Dieterich, Illinois; sister, Elizabeth Monroe of Decatur, Illinois; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Albert Hogan.
As per John's wishes cremation rites will be accorded and a celebration of his life will be at a later date.
