Linda Sweetland

Linda Sweetland, 78, of Effingham, IL, passed away on March 29, 2026.

Born on December 9, 1947, in Effingham, IL to Elmer and Dorothy Heuerman. Linda grew up with a passion for reading, traveling, and spending time with family. After receiving her diploma from St Mary’s College, she went on to have a successful career in nursing for 45 years.

Known for her dry humor, determination, and forthrightness. Linda spent much of her free time reading, knitting, and collecting coins. She adored her children and grandchildren.

Linda is survived by her children Jennifer (Jeremy) Nelson and Jason (Venus) Sweetland; 3 grandchildren, Alex, Matthew and Andrew Nelson; 7 siblings, Judy Amacher, Jerry Heuerman, Jim Heuerman, Donna Roedl, Wayne Heuerman, Barb Shelton, Roger Heuerman. She was predeceased by Elmer Heuerman, Dorothy Heuerman, Daniel Heuerman, Richard Heuerman, Darlene Detmer and Lisa McIntyre.

Memorial Visitation Friday July 3, 2026 from 10am until a Life Celebration Service at 11am at Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga. A private burial will take place in Neoga Memorial Cemetery.
