85, of rural Trilla, IL, passed away at 12:36 P.M., Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL. Maurice was born November 8, 1926 in Jasper County, IL, the son of Albert Frank " Bud " and Naomi (Semple) Levitt and was a step son of Grace Nixon. He married June Bixler September 22, 1945 in Olney, IL she passed away March 12, 2003. He retired, after 35 years working in maintenance at Young Radiator in Mattoon. Red was a Veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a Paratrooper. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Neoga, IL. Maurice is survived by his children, Evert M. Levitt and his wife Connie of Monticello, IL, Wanda White and her husband Clarence of Mattoon, IL and Bill Levitt of Spokane, WA; half sisters, Marjorie Kibler of Decatur, IL and Carol Sue Cole of Lexington, IL; grandchildren, Corey Levitt and wife Lori of Monticello, IL, Matt White OF Mattoon, IL, Nick Levitt of Milmine, IL, Emily Carlyle and husband Aaron of Decatur, IL, Josh White and wife Tamara of Mattoon, IL; great grandchildren, Madison Levitt of Monticello, IL, Brooke Kimball of Monticello, IL, Jacob Levitt of Monticello, IL, Faith Levitt of Milmine, IL and Colby Carlyle of Decatur, IL. Maurice was preceded in death by - parents, step mother, wife - June Levitt and brother, Jason Albert Levitt. Red was a very creative person. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, but his love and passion was being with his family and enjoying his grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday March 5, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the Swengel - O'Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, IL with Pastor Marvin Yoder of Mattoon, IL officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Long Point Cemetery east of Neoga, IL. Graveside Military Rites will be conducted by the Mattoon V.F.W.
