MILDRED A. LUDWIG

87 of Neoga, Illinois, formerly of Sigel, Illinois, passed away at 2:51 P.M., Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital of Effingham, Illinois. Mildred was born June 30, 1925, in Green Creek, the daughter of Joseph and Florence ( Sur ) Greuel. She married Harry Ludwig November 11, 1947, at St. Mary of Help Catholic Church in Green Creek. Mildred was a member of St. Michael The Archangel Church and St. Michael Council of Women of Sigel, Illinois. Mildred was a constant companion with her husband Harry, as the couple farmed and built homes with Mildred doing the finish work . On Saturday nights you could find the couple on the dance floor. Mildred leaves her husband Harry Ludwig, a resident of Heartland Christian Village of Neoga; daughters, Karen Mayhall and husband Randy of Sigel, IL, Mary Beth Mitchell and husband Calvin W. of Effingham, IL, Julie Clayton and husband Rick of Sigel, IL; sons, Steve Ludwig and wife Vicky of Sigel, IL, Gary Ludwig and wife Karen of Sigel, IL; siblings Leonard Greuel and wife Rosemary of rural Effingham, IL, Louis Greuel and wife Norma of Effingham, IL and Margaret " Margie " Flood of Toledo, IL; fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Ludwig was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Ruth Stodden, Hilda Dasenbrock and Mary Michels; one great grandson, Charles Bogardus. Memorials may be made to the Heartland Christian Village Auxiliary of Neoga. A special Thank-you to the wonderful staff for the care provided at Heartland Christian Village, where Mildred and Harry have resided for the past year. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, April 12, 2013, at St. Michael The Archangel Church of Sigel, Illinois, with the Rev. Fr. Robert DeGrand of Sigel, and Sr. Pat Thies of Effingham officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, April 11, 2013, at the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, with a 6:00 P.M. Rosary at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. Michael Cemetery of Sigel, IL on line condolences may be expressed at swengel-odell. com
