PAUL RICHARD APKE

Paul R. Apke 72, of Neoga, Illinois, passed away at 7:30 AM Thursday April 20, 2023 in his residence surrounded by family.  He was born August 11, 1950 in Effingham, Illinois the son of Norbert and Pauline (Rieman) Apke.  Paul married Barbara Diane Baker April 2, 1977 in Mattoon, Illinois.  Paul was retired from Apke’s Cabinets in Strasburg, Illinois where he worked with his brother Ron.  He loved planting his garden, building cabinets and signs and collecting antique clocks but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.  Paul believed his biggest accomplishment was his family who he loved dearly. Mr. Apke is survived by his wife, Barbara Apke of Neoga, Illinois; children, Matthew Apke of Tuscola, Illinois, Nicole Apke of Central, South Carolina, Troy Apke (Anna) of Hillsboro, Illinois, Robert Apke (Aimee) of Arthur, Illinois, Ryan Apke (Stacey) of Sullivan, Illinois, Jenna Allen (Neil) of Windsor, Illinois, Nathan Apke (Amber) of Toledo, Illinois and Jamie Apke of Neoga, Illinois; twenty six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one brother, Gary Apke (Lori) of Effingham, Illinois; three sisters, Carolyn Lamb of Montrose, Illinois,  Mary Doedtman (Gary) of Effingham, Illinois and Pauline Burgener (Bill) of Dundas, Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by parents; daughter, Jacklin Apke; brother Ron Apke and sister, Dorothy Apke.

As per Paul’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded and there will be a Celebration Of Life Open House  Saturday May 27, 2023 at the Apke Residence, 648 Pine Neoga, IL .  The Swengel - O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, Illinois is assisting the family with arrangements.
