RICHARD E. "SPARKEY" RUSSELL

 76,  of Altamont (formerly of Neoga) passed away at 9:26 AM.,  Sunday, January 12, 2020 at his residence. As per his wishes, no services are planned.
Richard was born July 3,1943 in Neoga, IL to Homer and Doris (Ferguson) Russell. Richard is survived by his wife, Kathy Russell of Altamont; one daughter, Rhonda (Tim) Allee of Mattoon; one son, Richard (Donna) Russell of Mattoon; one step daughter, Kelly Seaton (Adam) of Effingham; three brothers, Ron (Janice) Russell of Mattoon,  Homer Earl (Joyce) Russell of Granite City, David Russell of Lititz, PA;  five grandchildren, Elizabeth Russell of Effingham, Laith Russell of Effingham, Stephanie Russell of Mattoon, Kelly Russell of Mattoon and Lucas Grzelak of Mattoon; five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one niece and one nephew.
Richard worked at RR Donnelley's for 32 years. He was active in the Neoga community for  many years.  He also served as Township Supervisor for the Neoga Township and the Cumberland County Board Of Health for many years.  Richard enjoyed talking and spending time with longtime friends about the "good ole days" and past cars he and his brothers loved to hot rod.  He was always there to help others. He will be missed.
