ROBERT E. "BOB" BURTON

Robert E. "Bob" Burton 79, of rural Toledo, Illinois, passed away at 8:28 AM Sunday, March 19, 2023 in the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Illinois.  He was born October 2, 1943 in Coles County, Illinois the son of Lester E. And O. Juanita (Noles) Burton.  Bob married Myrna Joann Cooper June 21, 1964 in Neoga, Illinois Joann passed away March 2, 2023.  Mr. Burton was a retired Photo Lithographer for World Color Press in Effingham, Illinois.  He was a member of the First Christian Church in Neoga, Illinois, The Toledo Masonic Lodge, life member of the V.F.W. and a member of the Neoga American Legion of Neoga, Illinois.  Bob liked classic cars like the 1955, 1956 and 1957 Chevys, Corvettes, Nascar, Rodeo, Calf Roping and Team Roping and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.  Mr. Burton is survived by his son, Timothy Burton (Rhonda) of Effingham, Illinois; daughter, Stacey Burton-Morris of rural Neoga, Illinois; three grandchildren, Myrna Morris, Kaitlyn and Dylan Burton;  brothers, Lester R. Burton (Marilyn) of Charleston, Illinois, Mike Burton of Neoga, Illinois, Jim Burton (Marie) of Neoga, Illinois and Ron Burton of Neoga, Illinois; sister, Doris Shookman of Decatur, Illinois.   He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, M. Joann Burton; sister, Dorothy Burton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday March 24, 2023 in the First Christian Church in Neoga, Illinois.  Visitation will be held Thursday March 23, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Masonic Rites Service at 7:00 PM in the Swengel - O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, Illinois .  Burial will be in the Long Point Cemetery of Neoga, Illinois with Military Services by the Neoga American Legion Post 458 of Neoga, Illinois.
