Raymond E. Smith

87 of Neoga, Illinois, passed away at 10:40 P.M., Friday, October 14, 2011, in his residence in Neoga, Illinois. Raymond was born February 8, 1924, in Sefton Township, Fayette County, Illinois, the son of Wm. Elmer and Dora ( Baker ) Smith. He was a retired Repairman for the Fedder's Corporation of Effingham, IL and opened and closed graves in the Neoga area for several years. Raymond married Betty Mummel February 5, 1951, in Vandalia, IL. Mrs. Smith passed away February 27, 1998. Mr. Smith leaves one son, Steve Smith and special friend Susan Kline of Mattoon, IL; two daughters, Glenda Robinson and husband John of Neoga, IL and Donna Lundy of Neoga, IL; four grandchildren, Tracie Beckman and husband Jim, Brandon Drum, Kaiti Robinson and special friend Dean Spradling and Dustin Drum all of Neoga, IL; one Great Grandson, Dalton Ellison and special friend Kourtney Will; several Nieces and Nephews; and Special Great-Great Nephew, Trenton Gonzales. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Smith; five brothers, six sisters and special friend Edna Fox . Memorials may be made to the Lincolnland Hospice of Mattoon, IL. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 18, 2011, in the Swengel - O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, A private family Funeral service will be held at a later date.
