WILLIAM SMITH Obituary

84, of Danville, Illinois, formerly of Neoga, Illinois, passed away at 6:45A.M., Sunday, August 11, 2013, in the Presence United Samaritans Medical Center of Danville, Illinois. William was born August 14, 1928, in Fontanet, Indiana, the son of Ollen and Mary (Hamblett) Smith. He married Letha Marie Lindley, October 27, 1959, in Effingham, Illinois. William served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a printer for fifty years, employed at the Journal Gazette of Mattoon, IL and the Commercial News of Danville, Illinois, a member of the Masonic Lodge # 259 of Rosedale, Indiana. William was a lover of old cars, attending car shows and enjoyed working on and talking about cars. William leaves his wife, Letha Marie Smith of Danville, IL; five children, Deborah Kay Siefert and husband Mark of Terre Haute, IN, David (Bo) Barber and wife Peggi White of Ogden, IL, Kathy O'Brian of Danville, IL, William E. Smith, Jr. and wife Laura of Sheboygan, WI and Michael (Mike) Smith and wife Vera of Milwaukee, WI; eleven grandchildren and one great grandson. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one son, Timothy Allen Smith. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P. M., Saturday, August 17, 2013, in the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, with the Rev. Richard Coen officiating, Visitation will be held from 1:00 P. M., Saturday, until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Neoga Memorial Cemetery, Neoga, IL with Military services conducted by the V.F.W. Post # 4325 of Mattoon, IL.
